Produced by Academy Award, TEC and G.A.N.G Award Winning Composer, Troels Folmann and Emmy Nominated Composer and Orchestrator, Colin O’Malley, 8Dio Adagio String Series is a new-generation orchestral sample library and the most expressive collection of deep-sampled strings ever created.

Adagio Basses is our fourth release in the Adagio Series – featuring both Ensemble (4) and Divisi (2) Basses as well as a Solo Bass. The library contains 6 different types of legato, +25 dynamic bowing types, 15 loures and gorgeous deep-sampled short notes.

The Basses have historically been the "forgotten” instrument when it comes to string sampling due to its lower and less prominent register. We decided to take the opposite approach and record the instrument with depth, passion and lushness. The culmination is the most comprehensive sample library on the market in regards to emotional and realistic orchestral basses.



Ensemble, Divisi & Solo

Adagio Basses contains several different types of expressive legato for both ensemble, divisi and solo basses. The legato intervals were sampled up to 4 times round robin for an even greater degree of realism. In addition Adagio Basses also contains our loures (connected notes playing up/down motion) and dynamic bowings (naturally performed arcs).

Extensive Short Notes

Adagio Basses Vol. 1 was recorded in our signature Adagio church environment with a hand-selected group of great bass players from the San Francisco Bay Area. All groups were sampled with three different microphone positions (close, far, mixed) and we deployed the same unique sampling techniques we applied to all our Adagio products, including round robin legato and the ability to connect legato effortlessly with other articulations like loure (floating notes) and dynamic bow ings (expressive notes).
