Born in Belgrade, Serbia, he studied both in his hometown and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. A prizewinner at numerous international competitions, Damir has performed in major concert halls around the world and appeared frequently as a soloist. As a collaborator with the Vienna Philharmonic, he has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician at the renowned Vienna Musikverein. The harp’s otherworldly, gentle timbre isn’t limited to scoring the journey to the pearly gates via its 40 + strings either. Thanks to its celestial versatility it can lend a certain kind of magical aura to recordings of any genre ranging from classical romanticism to experimental 60s rock to modern pop. And with our dedicated Synchron Harp Player you can now glide through sophisticated harp pieces, even with average keyboard skills.

While harps can achieve dreamy sounds no other instrument can produce, they provide unique challenges for players. It’s almost impossible to master a demanding piece just by sight-reading, requiring adequate time to prepare and work out the pedaling. Even some of the greatest classical composers often found it difficult to write for the harp. With this in mind, harp playing just got easier. We recorded Tina Žerdin, long-time virtuoso harpist of the Vienna Synchron Orchestra as she played a wonderful Lyon & Healy Style 30 Concert Grand harp in the pristine acoustics of the large hall of Synchron Stage Vienna. Gethen is a cinematic Kontakt library focused on motion. It is built around a custom dual-line arpeggiator engine, designed to generate arpeggios, evolving phrases, rhythmic sequences and aleatoric textures in real time. No pre-recorded loops: hold a group of notes and let the engine do the rest.

From delicate neoclassical string ostinatos to granular vocal choirs, percussive metallophones and synthetic pulses, Gethen transforms simple input into intricate,
layered movement.

With 150+ sound sources spanning acoustic strings, voices, tuned percussion and electronic textures, and over 1,100 presets ready to drop into your session, Gethen gives film composers and sound designers an immediate palette of kinetic, cinematic sound, plus drag-and-drop support for your own samples, so the engine grows with your workflow.

The Sounds
Gethen's 150+ sound sources span solo strings, woodwinds, vocals, bowed metals, plucks, synths and textural layers, all organised into sustains and shorts, each behaving differently when fed through the arpeggiator engine. Organic sources were recorded as multi-sampled instruments with chromatic mapping, round robins and dynamic layers. Designed sources were crafted using advanced spectral manipulation techniques in Kyma, a sound design environment used extensively in Hollywood scoring and post-production. Many sounds blend both approaches, sitting in a space between the realistic and the surreal: familiar enough to feel cinematic, strange enough to feel new.

The Engine
At the core of Gethen are two independent arpeggiators, each driving its own sound layer. Set tempo-synced rates, note sequences and step patterns as you would with any arpeggiator, then go further: merge and slice steps, mute and unmute divisions within a line, and shape measures that break free from rigid repetition. What sets the engine apart is how it responds to what you feed it. Load a sustained violin or a soprano vocal and it behaves as a rhythmic granular engine, carving movement out of long tones. Load a spiccato, staccato or percussive hit and it switches to a dynamic sequencer, triggering precise rhythmic patterns. The engine detects the sound type automatically, no configuration needed (no pre-recorded loops or phrases, what you hear is built live from raw sound sources and your input). Layer the two arpeggiators together (any combination of granular and sequenced, or two of the same) and the result is intricate, non-static patterns from a single held chord. But the real power is in how the engine adapts to your playing. Voice through a progression by holding some notes and moving others, and the arpeggio reshapes in real time around your playing. You're not triggering a preset pattern, you're steering it.

The Presets
Gethen ships with over 1,100 ready-made patches (snapshots) that pair sound sources with
arpeggiator configurations, effects and tempo settings to give you production-ready patterns
from the first note. Snapshots are organised by category: Hybrid Violin, Cello, Viola, Textural Strings, Wind Phrases, Vocals and more. Each category contains variations across tempos, straight and triplet divisions, and different pattern styles. The same source sound can yield dozens of distinct cues depending on how the engine is configured, so every category runs deep. Browse by instrument, by tempo or by sound quality (tempo synched or free-form) and use any snapshot as a starting point to shape into your own.

Your Sounds, Your Engine
Drag and drop your own samples into either layer and run them through the full arpeggiator engine: same sequencing/granular behaviour, same step editing, same adaptive voicing. Gethen treats your sounds exactly like its own. Any sample you load inherits the complete engine, so Gethen works as a permanent creative tool long after you've explored every factory sound.

The Palette collection is the ultimate set of easy-to-use yet powerful orchestral scoring tools. Recorded in a dedicated hall with world-reknowned performers, it delivers world-class sound while making it as fast and simple as possible to get an authentic, realistic result.

Naturally, you can use Palette for everything from epic and dramatic soundtracks to intimate chamber pieces, soaring legato themes, tense underscore, and chilling atmospheres. However, thanks to its multiple mics and clarity of tone, it can work just as well in pop, rock, metal, or in any track where you need fantastic orchestral sounds without spending a ton of time on tweaking and programming.

With over 50 instrument patches, three mic positions, a lush room sound without too much ambience (1.2s reverb tail), extensive articulations, true legato, 3 dynamic layers and up to 7x round robins, this is truly a one-stop shop for your next orchestral production.

Palette Complete contains four libraries originally created & released by Red Room Audio: Palette Symphonic Sketchpad, Palette – Melodics, Palette – Orchestral FX, and Palette – Arps & Runs. These have been combined into a single product!

Core Ensemble Patches
The core of Palette Orchestra are the strings, brass and woodwinds ensemble patches. With our players in standard seating position across the stage we recorded the full range of each ensemble in unison, from lowest to highest note. Instruments play together when their ranges overlap and drop out when they reach their limits. We’ve dubbed this approach “True Ensemble Recording.” The result is a rich, playable patch that’s natural and full of life – instantly gratifying and perfect for quickly laying down ideas without sacrificing realism.

To provide you with an additional level of flexibility we recorded our ensembles in two sizes – Full and Chamber. These were not accomplished by layering samples – they are 2 unique sets of recordings, each featuring a different number of players. This allows you to achieve the ideal breadth for your score, be it powerful and dramatic or tranquil and moving.

Choir, Percussion, Piano, Harp & Bonuses
The 24-piece choir features separate Women & Men sections performing sustains and staccato articulations in 3 vowels (Ah, Oh and Mm).

Palette Orchestra also offers 23 essential tonal and atonal orchestral percussion instruments, sampled in up to 7 dynamics with 5 round robin for both left and right hand (where applicable). Standard hits, rolls and other unique articulations are included. The drums, cymbals and auxiliary instruments are combined in one simple GM-style patch to minimize your track count. We also added 6-player ensemble trailer drums and hand percussion patches.

Our piano is a beautiful Steinway B Grand, recorded in the hall with 6 dynamic layers and multiple round robins.

The concert harp patch features standard plucks and a unique “glissandi maker” script, which simulates realistic pedaling to produce hundreds of scales you can perform at any length or speed by simply sweeping your controller’s keys up and down.

And no modern all-in-one cinematic solution would be complete without a set of custom sound design and trailer tools for adding instant impact to your score. Palette Orchestra includes over 250 unique hybrid samples in 7 categories – Impacts, Sub-booms, Reverses, Whooshes & Transitions, Risers, Downers and Braaams – all custom created by our team of sound designers. There’s also a dual-layer subtractive synth patch to add extra grit or low-end to the orchestra.

Melodic Combos and Soloists
Write beautiful, dramatic, and powerful melodies with 18 melodic patches! This subset of the library includes 12 of the most dramatic and powerful pre-orchestrated combos plus 6 soloists, as selected from the works of our favorite film and classical composers. Each combo was recorded performing together (NOT artificially scripted!). Up to 9 essential articulations per instrument including true legato.

We recorded a soaring violin section playing octaves, regal trumpets with horns, playful flutes & piccolo, creepy bass clarinet & contrabassoon octaves, a gigantic and downright frightening low strings & low brass ensemble and many others. We felt it was also important to include soloists since they are so often used to deliver a melody, so we recorded 6 of those as well. 17 of the 18 instruments in the library have true legato (the exception being our Trombones & Tuba).

You are not, however, limited to using “Melodics” for melodies. The instruments feature up to 12 common articulations (most include 4 different kinds of short notes!) and can therefore also be used for traditional orchestral writing to add unique colors to your compositions.

Our soloists were recorded in standard orchestral seating position with 3 microphone perspectives – close, decca tree and hall. For the combos we added a second close mic (4 total mics) so you have some control of each individual instrument.

Runs and Arpeggios
We felt there was simply no better way to capture the emotion and subtle nuances of these unique articulations than to record them in their entirety, versus trying to cleverly combine samples to produce artificial phrases. Therefore we went the extra mile and recorded both strings and woodwinds ensembles playing scales in 6 primary modes – Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Whole Tone and Chromatic – each with up to 13 variations.

There are also 20 kinds of arpeggios in 4 modes – Major, Minor, Diminished and Augmented. Every run/arp has 2 round robins and can be performed in every key and can sync to your host’s tempo. In total, the Runs & Arps tool set includes over 1600 performances!

The modern and easy-to-use GUI always displays the notation for the current run/arp so you can visualize exactly what the orchestra is doing. For composers creating mockups who plan to deliver finished scores to an orchestra, we’ve also included the ability to drag and drop MIDI data for every performance to your DAW. You could also use this to easily layer the performances with other samples.

We’ve added several convenient Settings features like Downbeat Sync, which ensures that the final note of the performance always lands on count 1 of the next measure. Tempo controls allow you to sync to your host tempo or set the BPM manually. The “In Quantize” knob quantizes the start of the performance to the note value of your choice.

Orchestral FX (Aleatoric)
Rounding out the patches of Palette is a set of aleatoric FX virtual instruments for media composers and songwriters. We were fortunate to work with three outstanding composers from around the globe (George Strezov, Jongnic Bontemps and Tristan Noon) who collaborated to orchestrate a slew of useful FX for strings, brass, woodwinds and choir in 6 categories – Short, Long, Sting, Texture, Rise and Fall.

Many were recorded by all 4 sections, allowing for easy layering. In total there are over 2,400 unique performances that you can use to provide instant drama, emotion, character and life to your music. Load up one of the 4 section patches and keyswitch through the categories to perform individual samples from your keyboard. Or get creative with the powerful FX Builder patch, which allows you to browse, select and layer up to 4 FX with controls to adjust their volume, pitch and timing.

Banjo playing generally falls into two main camps: the fingerpicked bluegrass style pioneered by Earl Scruggs, and the older traditional clawhammer style.

Clawhammer technique produces a very different sound compared to the three-fingered bluegrass banjo approach. The clawhammer method involves using your thumb to pluck strings accompanied by downward strums with the back of your fingernails. This style allows for simple rhythms as well as more complex patterns that include melodic playing. Its distinct sound is compounded by the typical use of the mellower-toned open back banjo, in contrast to the loud resonator banjos favored for bluegrass music.

Evolution Clawhammer Banjo is the first ever sample library to cover this playing style and was recorded using a folk-style open back banjo modeled after the archetypal Whyte Laydie banjo. The instrument also includes fingerstyle articulations for even more versatility. That way you can benefit from the sweeter, resonant sound of the folk banjo while playing banjo rolls.

We developed the library in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company, one of Utah's most venerable recording studios. Guy Randle, the owner and recording engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, had a central role in researching how to authentically recreate the clawhammer playing style, analyzing its various articulations to determine what and how to effectively capture them. Evolution Clawhammer Banjo includes an as-recorded signal as well as an enhanced signal that Guy Randle skillfully guided through analog gear to emphasize the rich tonal qualities of the instrument. Both the as-recorded and enhanced signals are phase coherent and can be blended to your taste.

The banjo samples were performed by talented multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tilby, who is well-versed in both the bluegrass and clawhammer playing styles. Known for his broad palette of sounds and styles, Ryan Tilby is an in-demand session musician as well as a Billboard charting artist with five solo albums. As a performer, Ryan has played at Telluride, Merlefest, FanFest, RockyGrass, and countless other music festivals throughout the United States, as well as having toured Europe multiple times. His music has been featured on Duck Dynasty, the Discovery Channel, and on Outdoor Photo Adventures.

The Synchron Solo Viola features stellar performances by Anna Firsanova, solo violist of the Vienna Synchron Orchestra. Leonard Solomon’s Extraordinary Machines is especially well suited for lighthearted and whimsical tracks, specific sound design applications, and outside-the-box inspiration. About the Library
Classically trained musician, inventor, and one-man-orchestra Leonard Solomon has a mind like no other. Starting with the Majestic Bellowphone in 1983, he’s been delighting audiences on the street, in acclaimed concert halls, and on national television with his extraordinary machines (check out this WIRED feature for more of his story). Through this sample library, we hope to preserve his legacy and share the charm and whimsy of his creations with fellow musicians.

These machines have all been hand-built from materials that were found, salvaged, or purchased from hardware stores and then ingeniously combined into something never before heard. Every instrument is one-of-a-kind, with its own character and color.

From the masterfully crafted Bellowphone to the mind-bending Oomphalapopatronium, Leonard Solomon’s unique musical instruments create sounds to fascinate audiences, inspire creators and challenge the status quo. To help you understand this eclectic collection of odd creations a bit better, we’ve put together a brief description of each instrument.

Extraordinary Machines
Bellowphone: Constructed in Len’s basement woodshop, the Bellowphone is a multi-instrument composed of many individual wind and percussion instruments activated by a foot pump (the eponymous bellow). The Bellowphone is chiefly made out of found and salvaged materials, including metal pipes, cardboard tubes, springs, coat-hanger wire, sheet-metal from a toaster, vacuum-cleaner pieces, tin cans, and plumbing parts. The rest of the Bellowphone’s components — playground balls, funnels, screws, kazoo, and nose-flute! — were purchased from local hardware and sports equipment stores.

Bottle Organ: Hand-made latex ball bellows connected to a series of pitched bottles suspended in a custom wood frame make up this one-of-a-kind creation. The Bottle Organ boasts soft, round organ tones reminiscent of carnival games and world fair music.

Oomphalapompatronium: A crown jewel in the Leonard Solomon collection of oddities, the Oomphalapompatronium (pronounced “Oom-Fah-Lah-Pom-Pah-Troh-Nee-Um”) is made from a wheel, pottery, tin cans, and water bottles. In place of a keyboard, this incredible invention features a button board. A radial ball pump is used to automatically fill the air reservoir, which in turn powers a robust horn section that delivers a wonderful cacophony of extraordinary musical tones.

Callioforte: Two and a half octaves of chromatic pipe whistle tones that drip medieval and airy high tones; the perfect instrument for soft melodies, and whimsical hooks.

Other Inspiring Sounds
Miscellaneous: Leonard Solomon’s house is a veritable museum of hand-made musical instruments and sound making creations. Our Miscellaneous patch includes a small suite of found-sounds pulled straight from the walls, shelves and cabinets of Leonard’s extraordinary home: Pneumatic Cymbal, Cuckoo Machine, Small Horn, Laughing Horn, Warbler Whistle.

Tonal Horns: A set of horn blasts and phrases from four of Len’s unique horns: Big Horn, Lurch Horn, Hunting Horn, and Drone Horn.

Kazoo: The kazoo is a core piece of the Leonard Solomon sound. We made sure to capture Len’s favorite as a solo instrument to provide the most versatility and usability for producers in need of quirky melodic beds and melodies. In this digital age, it also works wonders when highly processed and used as a sound design source.

Sound Design Atonal: A large suite of designed atonal soundbeds, effects, oddities and noises to add texture, depth and ear candy onto your tracks. This patch is the glue that fills in spaces and takes ordinary musical compositions to the next level of unique and compelling.

Sound Design Tonal: A collection of found sounds and single-capture tones from Len’s massive collection of noise makers, heavily processed and sound designed for use as effects, sound beds, and musical textures. Sound sources include Baritone Bottle, Brain Razor, Cup Flute, Oompha Synth, Gargantuan Kazoo and Clown Nose Chord.

Hand-built, one-of-a-kind instruments
Each machine was hand-crafted by Leonard Solomon himself and imbued with incredible character you won’t hear anywhere else. All recorded in the same space they were invented: Leonard Solomon’s wood shop and home.

Four signature “extraordinary machines”
Leonard Solomon’s beloved multi-instrument Bellowphone is the star of the show; other unique machines are the Bottle Organ, Oomphalapompatronium, and Callioforte.

Miscellaneous sounds galore
In addition to the larger instruments, this collection includes Leonard Solomon’s Pneumatic Cymbal, Cuckoo Machine, Small Horn, Laughing Horn, Warbler Whistle, a selection of distinctive horns, and more.

About Leonard Solomon
Leonard Solomon studied guitar and early music at Antioch College, spent time as a guitarist in a country-rock band, and then worked for a decade as a professional cabinet maker. All these experiences influenced his career constructing and performing on one-of-a-kind instruments for audiences of all sizes.

Leonard has been featured performing with his unusual creations in PBS’ Lonesome Pine Specials’ One-Man Band Extravaganza; in the nationally broadcasted “A Taste of Passover” and “A Taste of Chanukah” at Jordan Hall, Boston; at festivals in both Singapore and Japan; and at King Richard’s Faire in Massachusetts, among other performances.

Few producers have resonated through music history quite like Tony Visconti. Not only has he pushed sonic boundaries and rejuvenated the sound of rock, he’s created mold-breaking milestones of musical art throughout a career spanning nearly six decades. From seminal albums with iconic artists like David Bowie, T. Rex and Thin Lizzy to multiple Grammy wins and a Music Producers Guild Award for Outstanding Contribution, Visconti’s influence speaks for itself – etched into the very fabric of music as we know it.

For this SDX, he took his fearless approach and unending curiosity to London’s legendary Metropolis Studios. Flanked by his drummer of choice – UK session stalwart Stephen Gilchrist (The Damned, Cardiacs, Graham Coxon) and engineer Liam Nolan (Adele, Rihanna, Drake, Stormzy) – he oversaw recordings of eight kits, all sourced to pinpoint some of the most iconic milestones of his extraordinary career. Two distinct Studio A environments were captured: the spacious main room and the tighter, damped iso booth. In the main room, lively, edgy kits representing Visconti’s Bowie-era work were recorded, while in the booth, grittier sounds more in the style of Thin Lizzy and T. Rex were sought. In both rooms, a broad range of ambiences and extra mics were recorded, giving you optional tonal flavors to use when shaping your mixes. To top it off, the natural reverb in the adjacent stone room was captured using a stereo ribbon mic, giving you another organic layer to work with for all kits. Altogether, this will give you kits covering eight different facets of rock – from the loud and open to the tight and gritty. Be it for glam, classic, alternative, art, prog or beyond, you’re covered.

In addition to the sounds, a broad selection of presets engineered by Tony Visconti himself as well as a MIDI library of grooves and fills by Stephen Gilchrist are included – all inspired by the different eras and work that has made Visconti the legend that he is.

Classic Brass is our concert hall iteration of a workhorse brass library.

Sharing the same playability philosophy as our existing brass releases, Classic
Brass elevates every aspect of the sampling process. Recorded in a
large acoustic space (Besední dům in Brno, CZ), it pushes the upper
dynamic range while taking contextual sampling techniques to their
limits within a true concert hall environment.

Caveats
High Voice Count: This library is a polyphony beast. Due to the nature of the programming, dynamic layers, and mic positions, using multiple mics while playing fast triads can easily exceed 1000+ voices – especially in the trumpets, which feature five dynamic layers.

The Mix mic position is a carefully balanced blend of all recorded microphones, designed to handle the vast majority of composing situations while keeping polyphony more manageable.

For reference, the Rise of the Crowned demo track was produced on a seven-year-old PC without issue. Three mics for trumpets, Mix mic for the horns, bones and tuba.

Artifacts: Nearly everything in this library was contextually sampled and pushed to the very edge of what remains musically usable. As a result, a small amount of artifacting may be present from the post-production process required to shape these performances into a playable instrument.

These artifacts are primarily audible in the contextual staccatos, where a faint, ghost-like trail may follow the natural reverb tail.

Does this affect musical use in context? Not at all.
This library was never intended to be clinical – and the tradeoff required to capture energetic, characterful performances was considered well worth it.

Every articulation – with the exception of latch key staccatos and staccatissimos – was captured inside thoughtfully curated phrases, aiming to preserve the musical energy and subtle chaos a live performance imparts to each note.

Eminently playable, rich with personality, spanning a wide dynamic range, and leaving ample room for the sound to breathe – all meticulously programmed to feel natural under the fingers.

If your MIDI controller has keys that are a little too heavy or light, you can adjust the Velocity Curve from a single knob to compensate. From the Atari 2600 (1977) to the Game Boy Advance (2001), Super Audio Cart 2 encompasses multiple generations of legendary audio hardware — even obscure chips such as the VRC6 (a Japan-only add-on to the Famicom), SampleCell II (a hardware-based sound card), and the MSX Home Computer.

Far beyond mere pulse waves, bleeps, and bloops — although it has plenty of those, too! — Super Audio Cart 2 includes virtually any instrument you can imagine, taken straight from the worlds of your favorite games and systems.

100% authentic and royalty-free.
Many of the included systems used PCM sample playback rather than pure synthesis. We did not ‘rip’ samples from existing games; we spent years painstakingly recreating thousands of classic sounds from scratch using our own sample catalog and careful editing. Where applicable, these sounds were then played back directly from the original hardware for maximum authenticity.

In other words, the sounds in Super Audio Cart 2 are as close as possible to the sounds you remember from your favorite retro games, without any need to worry about copyright infringement or royalties.

Our dream ROMpler comes to life.
Systems like the Nintendo 64 and original PlayStation could play full audio tracks, rather than individual samples. In this era, composers used gear like the Roland JV-1080 and SC-88, Korg M1, Akai S1000, E-mu Proteus, and many others, which were then colored by playback on the consoles themselves to create the distinctive (and now nostalgic) music of this generation.

We followed a similar process to ensure that Super Audio Cart 2 was equal parts authentic and usable. But rather than merely ‘ripping’ sounds from these hardware units, we took an insanely difficult (but much more versatile) path: we created our own virtual dream hardware with its own “Impact Factory Library” (IFL).

The IFL covers all General MIDI sounds and much more, just like the hardware that inspired it. We recorded and edited samples to match the style of a mid-90s sampler.. and then re-sampled them for the N64, PSX, SNES, and GBA, exactly as would have happened for video game music at the time — thus giving us the highest possible authenticity.

These are sounds you’ve never heard before. And yet they will seem immediately nostalgic if you’ve played games from that era or used classic MIDI hardware from the ’80s to the ’90s!

Every developer who worked on Super Audio Cart 2 has a deep connection to video game soundtracks. Over the years, we have arranged video game music, studied it, owned an array of consoles and MIDI hardware, and written our own retro-inspired game soundtracks. We are obsessive perfectionists, especially about things we care about, and we care a lot about video game music.

Simply put, this is our ultimate passion project, a true labor of love. It’s everything great about the original Super Audio Cart and its later expansion Super Audio Cart PC, plus so much more.

Nintendo 64 (N64)
Classic mid-’90s Nintendo nostalgia. No dedicated sound chip or audio RAM, so developers were only limited by computing power and cartridge data storage. Most games hit the ‘sweet spot’ of 16-bit audio produced at 32kHz or 22.05kHz.

PlayStation (PSX)
CDs instead of cartridges meant multiple audio playback styles and capabilities. SAC2 emulates the PSX’s audio chip, which could be used for sequencing samples compressed as VAG – a more modern iteration of the ADPCM BRR algorithms used on the SNES.

SampleCell II
A popular soundcard from the early ’90s. Not a true sampler, but functionally a ROMpler with user-editable soundbanks, able to replay up to 32 voices across 8 channels. SampleCell II’s Factory Library notably used in the soundtracks of Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time & more.

Game Boy Advance (GBA)
Early-’00s handheld with no dedicated sound chip, so samples varied from developer to developer and from game to game. Very electronically noisy, which combined with poor fidelity & tuning of most audio samples to create a distinctive sound. SAC2 balances usability and grunge to capture this aesthetic.

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)
America’s favorite ’80s console. Ricoh 2A03 APU with 5 channels: 2 pulse channels. 1 triangle channel. 1 noise channel. 1 lo-fi DPCM channel. Pure nostalgia.

Sega Genesis / Mega Drive
Arcade-inspired late-’80s console. Yamaha YM2612 FM synth and SN76489 PSG chip. 6 channels of stereo 4-op FM sound. 1 channel of 8-bit PCM sample playback. Noisy DAC.

Commodore 64
The MOS 6581 SID chip from a widely-used ’80s home computer with audio capabilities beyond even many dedicated synthesizers of the time. Three independent oscillators. Four waveforms. Volume envelopes, ring modulation, oscillator sync, and multi-mode filter.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
Enormously popular home console at the heart of the original Super Audio Cart. Up to 64KB of BRR samples across up to 8 channels. 16-bit/32kHz audio. Pleasantly lo-fi and super nostalgic.

Game Boy
The definitive handheld console of the 8-bit era. Two pulse oscillators. One 4-bit PCM sample channel. One noise generator. Enormously popular among modern chiptune musicians.

AdLib Music Synthesizer Card
Groundbreaking ’80s-’90s sound card from the early digital music scene. Uses FM synthesis to produce multitimbral instruments and sound effects via the Yamaha YM3812 sound chip.

Amiga 500
The sound chip of a popular late-’80s gaming computer. 4 hardware-mixed PCM channels of 8-bit PCM audio, up to a sample rate of 26kHz.

Sega Master System
An early home console, a competitor to the NES in the mid-80s. Sound chip is a clone of the TI SN76489. 3 square wave generators. 1 noise generator. 16 attenuation levels.

Aegis Sonix
One of the very first software synths in the mid-’80s, a cutting-edge digital replication of a highly capable (at the time) hardware synth. Produced for the Commodore Amiga. One oscillator. One LFO. Pure style.

Atari ST / POKEY
Soundchip from the best (and final) line of Atari home computers, which were renowned for their MIDI capabilities and highly popular with electronic musicians at the time. Thick sound. Multiple forms of distortion.

Tracker / Ultimate Soundtracker
Commodore Amiga tracker (a form of PC-based synthesizer) from the late ’80s. 4 pitch- and volume-modulated channels of 8-bit 8SVX PCM samples.

WinGroove
Mid-’90s PC application that enabled higher-quality playback of MIDI files via its own set of samples. (We worked with the creator to retrieve the source files and loop data to provide THE authentic sound set in Super Audio Cart 2!)

ASCII MSX
’80s home computer, popular in Japan and Europe. Square waves. Hi-fi 3-voice PSG with better pitch accuracy and resolution than most sound chips of the era. Could use additional FM sound chips via expansion cartridges (also included in SAC2!).

Famicom (VRC6, VRC7, Disk System)
Released in the early ’80s, Japan’s version of the NES had expanded sound capabilities compared to the NES. Some game cartridges used sound chips; VRC6 adds two additional pulse channels and a saw channel, and VRC7 features an FM synthesis chip based on the Yamaha YM2413.

The original Super Audio Cart sported a flexible, versatile mod matrix, but we knew we had to do even better than that with the sequel. Enter MODRIX, the modulation system we developed in-house to offer every kind of movement and control imaginable.

Use a multitude of modulator types like envelopes, LFOs, MIDI values, key ranges, macros, X/Y pads… and connect them to basically any control you can think of: filters, pitch, volume, pan, effects, and even combine multiple routings for the same parameter together for complex, dynamic modulation masterpieces!

MODRIX routings can be tweaked to your heart’s content with curvature controls, min/max depth, adjustable base, and so much more.

TONAL DRUMS Is The First Ever Tunable Drum VI.
Built on our acclaimed Sun Drums engine, Tonal Drums combines all the velocity layers and articulations with unmatched control over tuning, expression and tone.

TUNE
We carefully tuned each drum to a note. The drum was then extensively sampled before re-tuning to the next whole tone in its range. We repeated this 4-6 times for each drum, so you can set up limitless combinations with a few clicks.

DAMP
The bass drum, snare and hi-hat were sampled with varying levels of damping to control overtones. You can select how much damping you need for each drum: live and ringing, or dead and thuddy.

TOOL
Every drum was sampled with Sticks + Brushes (Bass Drum Hard + Soft Beater). You can choose which tool to use with each drum, mix and match for a hybrid sound.

TONAL DRUMS is fully compatible with e-drum kits.

Tonal Drums includes ready made mapping presets for Roland, Yamaha + Alesis e-drum kits.

PERSONAL + EMOTIONAL
a solo voice that can fill the room like a choir but in a subtly powerful way?
we spent two full days at a wonderful little studio called altamira sound in la, capturing a variety of kirsten's (our co-founder) personal, evolving, expressive solo voice textures which she often uses in her own work.

SAD + EXPRESSIVE
we captured sounds that stayed true to kirsten's artistic voice as a singer/composer, sounds that feel at home in cinematic soundscapes.

we took these recordings and made them into playable expressive textures that inspire when playing, as much as they did when we recorded them.

the result is a very personal and expressive instrument that adds a delicately powerful depth to music, and brings it to life in an organic way.

WHERE
we had a really great time recording at altamira sound in los angeles with the brilliant engineer james riotto.

james has worked with and recorded for many influential artists such as jamie xx, dirty projectors, the mountain goats, alex cameron, and many many more.

WHY
we wanted to share a curated collection of sounds, kirsten (our co-founder), has created and often uses in her own music.

kirsten's unique approach to using her voice and creating textures with it, as well as her voice recordings having graced many albums and productions, made us want to make these sounds available to more people to use in their productions.

we don't know any libraries that sounds like this, and wanted to make a personally curated instrument that is easy to use but adds a ton of human, expressive character in a personal but powerful way.

VSL Synchron Fazioli F212 Stereo for Synchron Pianos-R2R

The marvelous sound of the Synchron Fazioli F212, meticulously sampled at our Synchron Stage Vienna. Unlike its big brother F308 that was captured in the grandeur of Stage A, the F212 was recorded in the smaller, dryer Stage B, which turned out to be the perfect match for Fazioli’s classic mid-sized piano. In this intimate setting, with more direct signals and less room sound, every nuance of its rich sound shines, from the powerful bass to the warm mid-range to the crisp upper registers.

As with the C. Bechstein upright piano that is available as the German Upright 1904, this Fazioli F212 is owned by pianist and film composer Mick Baumeister, co-creator of the Hornberg breath controller. Mick acquired this Fazioli 212 after an intense testing phase in 1998, and it was set up to meet the musician’s requirements by Mr Paolo Fazioli himself.

Standard and Extended Library
In order to capture this marvelous instrument on Stage B, our recording engineers used multiple high-end microphone arrays, affording an abundance of options for creating your individual sound. The Full Library features 8 microphone positions – three different sets of close microphones with condenser, ribbon and tube options, two pairs of mid mics, as well as the Decca tree with additional surround outriggers.
