ACOUSTIC DRUMS THAT FEEL ELECTRONIC
An old school drum machine with 21st century sampling techniques: round-robin samples, multi-channel sounds, generative sequencers.

It features acoustic drums recorded in innovative new ways to achieve a warm, dry, chunky sound. There are no traditional velocity layers, only 'normal' + 'accent'. Each of these layers has 10 round robins which gives the drums a living, organic feel.

All the sounds in AC-DR are generated from acoustic drums, using mics, contact mics, live echo chambers and transformer distortion.

Each AC-DR drum module has up to 5 channels to blend. Each of these channels is part of the same drum hit, all perfectly in phase and time aligned together.

Warm acoustic tones that you can tweak and shape like analogue.

Each drum was painstakingly recorded in large sets of hits which were then edited by ear to produce a tight set of 10 random hits which sound as close to identical as possible.

All the bass drum, snare, rimshot and tom samples were re-amped in Rockfield's 2 echo chambers. The resulting reverb samples can be blended as a separate channel:a vital extra building block for drum design.

The main control panel. Each drum has its own self-contained block with volume fader, pan, mute and solo. From here you have a huge amount of control when tweaking a preset kit, using the acoustic source channel knobs. Beat Tools patterns can be triggered using the PLAY button.

AC-DR: EDIT PANEL

CHANNEL: COMP, EQ, SAT, TRANSIENT | DAW OUTPUT ROUTING
The EDIT panel gives you shaping tools for either the whole drum sound or individual acoustic channels if desired. The red V readouts are velocity modulation controls.

AC-DR: FX PANEL

REVERB WITH STEREO ECHO CHAMBER IRS + SC IR LIBRARY | REPLIKA DELAY
Two effects units are available to all drums via send controls in the edit panel. The Reverb unit features a full set of stereo IRs from the echo chambers, as well as a large collections of halls, rooms and studio gear. The Replika delay unit features various different styles of delay with modulation and feedback controls.

Euclidean Beats is a revolutionary way of generating drum patterns; simpler than it first looks. Set any number of hits and any number of steps per track, and Euclid will space it all out equally for you. Generate creative grooves you never imagined within seconds - you can't put a step wrong.

AC-DR: BEAT SHIFTER

8 TRACKS WITH GENERATIVE 'BEAT SHIFTING' FUNCTIONS
DRAG AND DROP PATTERNS TO DAW | SAVE AND LOAD PATTERNS FROM DISC
An 8 track step-sequencer with a difference - each track can be programmed to shift its hits as the beat plays, creating new beats as the patterns evolves. Sounds can be set to move a lot, stay completely still, or move incrementally while never losing their musical timing.

AC-DR: POLY BEATS

8 POLY-RHYTHMIC TRACKS | DRAG AND DROP PATTERNS TO DAW
Poly Beats is a new kind of drum sequencer. Each track divides the bar into arbitrary subdivisions, or polyrhythms. Since each track can be set completely different from each other, polyrhythms can quickly sound very strange and unnatural. Definitely for the left-field.

AC-DR 1.5 UPDATE: BLOCKS + CLAPS
We have added some great NEW STUFF to AC-DR Acoustic Drum Machine.
Firstly, a Hand-clap module with new sample data, as that was an unintentional omission from the initial release. This features the echo chamber samples which makes the clap very versatile sonically.

Secondly, a whole new sequencer: Blocks. This is another new take on step-sequencers, with totally flexible speed and length. Half-time, Three-times, Any-time. Layer triplets against dots, or any combination you can think of. It’s a bit like a combination of Beat-shifter and Poly Beats.
