What is it?

Virtual Studio Technology (VST) is a software interface that integrates software audio synthesizer and effect plugins with audio editors and hard-disk recording systems. VST and similar technologies use digital signal processing to simulate traditional recording studio hardware in software. Thousands of plugins exist, both commercial and freeware, and a large number of audio applications support VST under license from its creator, Steinberg.

IK Multimedia and Sonic Reality have released a virtual workstation, Sonik Synth 2, which includes over 5000 sounds in the 8-gigabyte sound library. The library includes samples of all types of synthesis of classic analog synthesizers, all kinds of live instruments and voices, as well as a standard set of sounds workstation pads, disabilities, basses, electronic drums, percussion and effects. Among other things, Sonik Synth 2 includes 152 MB of sounds grand piano, sampled at three dynamic levels. Features Sonik Synth 2: 16-Tone virtual synth station on semplovoy basis.
